We are just a few days away from that day when many of us will put our New Years Resolutions for 2016 in place. If you are still thinking about what those resolutions will be, let me help you along.
For most of us there is probably a list of resolutions a mile long, but there are several that everyone makes and hopefully will keep past the first 30 days.
Let’s see what that list might look like:
- Loose weight
- Save more money
- Get a better job
- Study harder
- Find time to spend with family
- keep a journal or write daily
- be kind
- practice gratitude
- find my path and stick to it
- don’t give up!
Now this is just a small portion of my list and some of it will take precedence over others, but the in the short term, these are a few of the things I want to accomplish.
So where will I start?
Concrete resolutions, those that must be done need to take first place in the whole scheme of my life and what I wish to accomplish and so it should for you too.
Health is the #1 reason in anyone’s life to make 2016 the best. You can’t accomplish anything if you are fighting with health issues. Some of these will be easier to take care of and some might need medical help. The most important thing is to make the decision to do something positive about whatever medical condition is holding you back. For me, weight is a definite issue. I need to lose quite a few pounds so that my knees will be happier and in turn will make daily living much easier. So I am concentrating on putting away all the chocolates, candy, cookies and cakes so that I won’t be tempted. I have an amazing sweet tooth, that never rests. So if there are sweets to be had, I will find them. Better to give them away, or put them in the freezer, so they will be out of sight and out of mind.
I am also going to start taking supplements to help with the osteoarthritis, my doctor has prescribed them, so I will follow. He has also suggested that a supplement would help with weight loss, so I am going to follow his expertise with that too! I have signed up with a program to help with weight loss and I’m confident that it will help. If you are interested it’s called Skinny Fiber and you take it 30 minutes before meals to help you feel fuller, so you don’t eat as much. Hopefully that will help me and just being aware of not eating quite so fast will be the other part of that equation…. So that’s my first resolution taken care of. Now as far as my numbers 2 and 3 go, I think I would reverse them. In order to save more money, I will need to get a better job…and to get a better job, I will have to study the systems that my company has in place and become proficient at working their computers. That will take a little time, but I am committed to doing just that. So before 2016 is up, I will know that system inside and out.
My resolutions from #5 to #10 are more esoteric in nature. They are not carved in stone and have some leeway. Spending time with family, is a two edged sword, because it also has to fit into their schedules, so when the invites go out, I will try to respond more positively. The only one that should be set in stone is #6. I must write daily! No wavering on that count. If it is not on my website, it will be in my journal, that I write, but write I will. There is just so much going on all the time, that to take a step back and enjoy the moment, or learn from the moment, or move away is all possible. The only requisite is that it be marked in my journal as something to learn from, something to make me grow as a person, or something to be avoided in the future at all costs.
Life lessons are better remembered when you spend some time to acknowledge that they happened and move forward.
There is no looking back, move forward, with conviction that your resolutions are important and nothing will stop you from being able to accomplish them.
Happy New Year, Happy New You, and to your Success!
