Christmas Trilogy

December 20, 2015 by GrammieOlivia Leave a Comment

There is a Christmas Trilogy that many people are not aware of.  So I hope to help you become aware and enjoy these most wonderfully, heartwarming stories.

A few years ago there was a song written by New Song in the year 2000 that brings the true meaning of Christmas to many people who have really forgotten what Christmas is all about.

This YouTube video tells the story of a little boy who wants to buy his mom the perfect gift. Called the Christmas Shoes, it will bring a tear to your eye, but is worth a listen…..

What many people don’t know is that the song was turned into a movie called The Christmas Shoes. It is a heart breaking reminder of what we mean to each other and the true meaning of Christmas.
But there is much more to this story. You see there were two sequels made that follow the life of the boy who wanted those shoes for his mom. It shows us how we are all interconnected and how we need each other throughout our lives. Strangers that become friends, and friends that become family, and how our lives are entwined.
Twenty years after the boy buys the shoes, he grows up and becomes a doctor. He is helping to save lives now and reminding himself each time that this is what he was meant to do with his life. But, one day, he can no longer save a life and the devastation that follows makes you realize that sometimes with our best efforts, there is another plan for that person.

The Christmas Blessing is the second in the trilogy and again it is heartbreaking, and beautiful at the same time. Our young doctor is faced with the fact that while he can save some lives, others are still not going to “make it”. He finds himself questioning God, fate and the fragile nature of our very beings. The whole time his is searching for that Christmas miracle.

The Christmas Hope is the third in the trilogy and seems to come full circle for our young doctor and all the lives that he has touched along the way. His young patient that died comes back to life in a most unusual way. The night that young man died, a package fell off the gurney and was somehow lost in the ensuing rigors of trying to save a life. Our young doctor has become a little hardened by life and all the unfair things that happen to good people. More lives become entwined when the mother of the young man who died in the second movie, who is now a Social Worker, is taking care of a young girl whose parents have been killed. It’s just before Christmas, and everyone’s lives are upside down again.

While trying to find a way to re-situate this young girl, the Social Worker and the husband take the young girl in, until they can find her a suitable home with other family members. The little girl knows that her mother and father are looking out for her and believes that they are angels sent to watch over her. I won’t give away the movie, but encourage you to watch it. There are hearts broken, hearts mended and family’s reunited in the most peculiar ways.

Again a warning, these movies are all very emotional in nature, they will have you smiling, crying, hopeful and eventually very happy to see that everything works out, even though at first it doesn’t seem to be at all.

Christmas is a time of emotion for a lot of people. Sometimes being able to laugh and cry during a movie, is a great way to get some of the emotional “baggage” we carry around out of us, so that our Christmas can be a celebration of the best kind.
