Kids: Go Fly a Kite!

When I was little it seemed that the worst thing you could tell a kid was to “Go Fly a Kite!” That was then and this is today. Kites have taken on a whole new way for kids to enjoy the outdoors.

Not only are some of these kites beautiful to look at, some of them are down right gorgeous. When you see them flying in the air against a blue sky they just seem like a ballet waiting to happen with the wind.

Kites and kids have long been a great combination, but in some countries Kite Flying has been taken to a whole new level.

There are places in the world where kite flying isn’t just a recreational pastime, but, they are serious about keeping their kites not only in the air, but “dancing” in the wind. If you are lucky enough to witness this, your eyes will be glued to the sky and the oooo’s and ahhh’s will be heard all the time. It really is a treat to see how the wind plays with the kites and the enjoyment that people get from watching them.

Great Exercise

Go Fly a Kite for some kids, is now like giving permission to go out and have some real fun. There is extreme kiting for daredevils that need a thrill. Kites are strong enough and hold enough air to keep a grown person airborne at the same time. Be careful when you go and tell them to fly a kite, they just might!

Start them off small though, reminding them of safety first, and let them decide how far they want to take the sport. Once they get a taste for flying kites, who knows where it will end. Today there are so many kites available and kiting clubs too. Your children will learn how aerodynamics works by playing and that in my humble opinion is the best way to learn.

When they are all finished with the small kites, they can and just might move into the bigger ones, then, watch out!

a very relaxing time, is during the summer biking through the park and seeing people flying their kites – being outdoors and enjoying the day – love these colorful kites, but then, anything with color works for me πŸ™‚

I have a kite that is about 10 ft long. It’s a dragon with a multi colored tail. I really is beautiful when it is flying.
