Bug Jewelry has been around for centuries and I truly mean centuries. The Egyptians held the Scarab Beetles as sacred and adorned themselves with these likenesses long before the Pyramids were built. Warriors would wear them on their capes or have them emblazoned on their helmets to protect them in battle.
Picture/tumblr/collectors itemsWomen also adorned themselves with Bug Jewelry from butterflies and bees, to dragon flies and spiders. My favorite just happens to be Lady Bugs and they are still a favorite of many ladies.
In China they had artisans that made jewelry for the ruling households and the craftsmanship of those articles was so fine, that some were “articulated” so they looked like they moved in the passing air currents.
Today we can find necklaces, earrings, rings and brooches with different kinds of “bugs” being used as the adornment. For men there are always cufflinks and tie clips or tie tacks and bracelets too!
Materials that they are made from can be anything from silver and gold. to cameos, shells, turquoise, and cast metals. Prices will be reflected in whatever the materials the craftsman used to make the items.

lol! Bug lovers will go batty for these – I have a friend whose absolutely terrified of spiders and if someone gave her spider jewelry, she’d lose it! (I wouldn’t do that to her though lol) – but everytime I see anything related to bugs I think of my not-so-bug-loving friends 🙂

Agreed, they are not everyone’s cup of tea, but I find them pretty. Especially lady bugs….I like dragonflies too!
